What is S.H.A.R.E?

S.H.A.R.E. — Self-Help And Resource Exchange is a community building program that offers nutritious food packages worth as much as $35 to $45 for only $20 per package and two volunteer hours per food package purchased. This program provides quality food at a reduced cost and promotes volunteer service as a means of strengthening our Peninsula community and beyond. Because S.H.A.R.E. food packages are purchased from food co-ops, no food is ever used from the Foodbank.

How does S.H.A.R.E. work?

S.H.A.R.E. purchases large quantities of food at wholesale prices. Volunteers distribute the food through a network of over 50 Distribution Teams throughout the S.H.A.R.E. Hampton Roads service area. Anyone living in the service areas listed below can participate.

What is a Food Package?

Food packages help supplement dinners for a family of four for approximately one week. Each month the S.H.A.R.E. program offers three different food packages valued as much as $30 to $40.
